Girls velvet dresses in cotton velvet and corduroy

Velvet corduroy: velvet with ribs
Corduroy is the same soft cotton pile as velvet, cut in lines, and several of our dresses are made in it. The Red Velvet Bustle Dress is a long cotton corduroy dress with a V-neck, buttons and a mesh bustle at the back, in sizes 104 to 176. Baby velvet dresses
For the smallest sizes, 68 to 92, there is the Baby Girl Velvet Dress in Black with Tulle, a cotton velvet top with a cotton tulle skirt, and two dresses in soft velvet corduroy cut like a Victorian baby gown: the Red Velvet Baby Dress and the Grey Corduroy Baby Dress.
Velvet for Christmas and beyond
Velvet is the classic Christmas fabric, and every dress here works for December; our girls Christmas dresses put them next to tartan and red tulle. Our sizes are heights in centimetres. Our cut is slim and European; between two sizes, take the larger, and a velvet dress with room in it often lasts a second winter. What are your velvet dresses made of?
Cotton. Some are cotton velvet, with a smooth short pile; others are cotton corduroy, the ribbed version of velvet. None is made of silk velvet or polyester velvet. The exact fabric of each dress is on its product page.
What is the difference between velvet and corduroy?
Both are soft pile fabrics. Velvet has an even, smooth pile; corduroy has the pile cut in ribs, called wales. Corduroy is a little sturdier, which makes it good for school days as well as parties.
Can I wash a velvet dress at home?
Follow the care on each product page. As a rule for cotton pile fabrics: wash cool and inside out, and dry flat so the pile does not crush.
